What words can express what to say about David McGregor Bolan, or as most referred to him, Mac?

Mac passed away April 25, 2023 at the age of 35 leaving behind so many family and friends who so much cherish him in their hearts.

Mac is survived by his parents, Katie and Mike Bolan, his sister Sam Petitto (Paul), and most importantly his daughter Mackenzie.  Mackenzie is the most beautiful gift Mac and Mackenzie’s Mom, Emily, could ever give to this world.  Mac loved Mackenzie, often referred to as Z, more than anything in the whole universe.

Mac is predeceased by his grandparents Lucia and Joseph Ramsay (Mac) McGregor and Marion and Charles Bolan.  Our trips to Dayton, Ohio to see the McGregor family and to Fredericksburg, Texas to see the Bolan family were precious times.

Mac’s family includes his nieces Lucia and Stella Petitto, his many aunts and uncles, Pat Partin (Jim), Mary Bolan, Helen Caivano (Roc - deceased), Marvie Redmond (Roly), Jennie Bernard (Andre), Jodi Campbell (Tim), and cousins Kate Macko (Ben), Lilly Caivano (Matthew), Chloe Warner (Andrew), Sophie Redmond, Lucia Bernard (deceased), Eenie Bernard (Jake), Ben Partin (Sofia), Amy van Hasz (Marc), Bill Campbell (Sue), Tim and Molly Campbell, Kaleb Partin, Junie Macko, and Ferris and Lily Warner.

Mac was born in Kirkland, Washington on June 25, 1987, and his family moved from Seattle to Bay Village, Ohio in 1989.  His early childhood was spent on Oakmoor Avenue where he experienced fun filled times with the neighborhood kids, and developed lifelong friendships. Mac went through the Bay Village school system and made many more lifelong friends along the way.  It is not possible to list all of Mac’s long time friends, but they know who they are and how much Mac loved them, and how important they were in his life.

Many great times were had when Mac was a kid enjoying our almost weekly weekend trips to visit our friends in Grafton - Bob, Sarah, Beth, Tom and Rob Dresing.  Those were wonderful times.

Mac was a gifted athlete but did not really take to organized sports, he liked to play just for the fun of it.  His athletic grace, handsome face, and easy smile was something to behold.  Although sometimes painfully shy, he would light up a room just by being there.  He was a bit of a charmer, always polite but with a devilish grin that some found irresistible.

After high school Mac tried out college, but realized he was more of a hands on guy and liked to build things.  He went to welding school at Polaris and soon was working as a highly skilled welder and fabricator at Terex Corporation until they relocated, and then Mac continued with several welding and fabrication companies in the Cleveland area.  In the summer of 2022 Mac interviewed for a welding position at HalvorsenUSA, but given his experience in CAD and fabrication and general professionalism, he was recognized as a better fit as Manufacturing Account Manager.  Mac learned quickly and relished his new job as one that is both hands on while checking in with the shop, and at his desk working on the CAD files and the details of complicated company orders.

Mac loved spending time working in his garage shop, listening to music or watching the local sports on TV.  He had a great artistic sense as displayed in his table and art piece designs and creations, working with metal or wood.  As said before Mac was a hands on guy.

Mac loved sports, and was a big fan of the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Cavaliers, but especially the Cleveland Indians, now Guardians.  Some great times were had on opening days with his buddy Eddie Miller, and Sam and Paulie.

Mac had an especially kind and sensitive heart that was felt by all who entered his world, from his earliest years to the present.  Mac’s loving personality and kind soul was especially obvious when he was around little kids and dogs, and in such encounters his kind soul shined.  He just naturally put a smile on all our faces.

Mac loved his family and friends with a big heart, and he gave the greatest hugs of all time.  We are going to miss those so much.  We are going to miss Mac so much.  Our world was a better place for 35 plus years while Mac was in it, and while this beautiful man is no longer physically present, his great heart, kind soul, and fun loving spirit will live on forever.  Mac is now at peace.

Mac’s time on this beautiful planet was cut too short, but if there is such a place as heaven there is no doubt Mac is there now, with all the spirits of those he loves and who love him.

Mac, just know all of us still on earth love you so much.

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE WILL BE ANNOUNCED AT A LATER DATE.

Beautifully and accurately written - thank you to whoever wrote this for shining some rays in what was been a strange fog since I heard the news. Very tragic loss. Mac had just started with us mid year 2022, was quickly stepping into the role here and advancing his career, Mac fit right in with the atmosphere. He will be missed here at the company,

Our condolences, as a company and from all the people here, to the Bolan family.

I love you, Bolans! We have so many unforgettable memories with Sam's college at your home, and Mac was always there with his huge grin, observing us reconnect and laughing along with the ridiculous stories. He loved and was in awe of his big sister and my dear friend, Sam, and Mackenzie is one of the sweetest, coolest kids I have ever met. Love you all forever. Our hearts are broken.

I ran into Mac many times over the passed few years and he hadn’t changed a bit since high school. He shared pictures and stories of his beautiful daughter and we got to catch up on life. Mac was one of those people that you could run into after not seeing for awhile and he always had a smile and a hug to offer. He was truly special. My heart goes out to everyone that knew him and loved him.

Mac was a gnarly skater, I remember many sunny summer days skating through the streets of Bay. Very sad i didn’t get the chance to say goodbye and let him know how much I loved him. I expect our paths will cross again in a future life in a distant plain. Love you Mac!
