Joan Ruth Goetz (nee Kloots) age 93, left this earth to continue her journey in heaven on December 8, 2022.

Joan was the beloved wife of 57 years to the late Clarence Goetz; cherished mother of Thomas (deceased) and Janis Zaruba (Vladimir); loving grandmother to Adam (Danielle), Evan, Taylor (Sean), Zachary (Shannon), step grandmother to Christopher; and dear great grandmother to Timothy and Natalie. She was preceded in death by her parents Abraham and Ruth Kloots, and sisters Gayle Kloots and Marilyn Tuttle.

Joan was born and raised in Lakewood, Ohio where she graduated from Lakewood High School. After Joan and Clarence married on June 21st, 1952, they moved to Westlake, Ohio where they raised their family. She loved to read, garden, entertain and take care of her home...but the most important thing to her was her family who she loved dearly. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who always had a beautiful smile on her face. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren - whether babysitting, having them for sleepovers or joining the family on outings to places like Cedar Point and Sea World. Joan was a very proud grandma and loved attending the grandchildren's various performances, programs and concerts. She especially loved to watch the Olmsted Falls marching band and clap along to the music!

Joan and Clarence had wonderful neighbors and entertained often for clambakes, cookouts, dessert night, or Fourth of July root beer floats before going to the fireworks.

Joan was a woman of great faith, and was a lifelong member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Lakewood, Ohio. She had a wonderful church family and participated in many church activities and groups, as well as volunteering her time and efforts to various church projects. She always enjoyed the many church picnics and outings held at Lakewood Park throughout the years.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial Celebration of Life service which will be held on Saturday April 1st, 11:00 a.m. at:
Grace Presbyterian Church, 1659 Rosewood Ave., Lakewood, Ohio, 44107

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, an organization which Joan and Clarence held dear and supported for many years.

Joan's father, Abraham, was the first of 12 children in the Kloots family. My mother, Ruth, was the 12th and final child. Joan and and my mom were about the same age and were very close since her dad had moved back to the family home due to the depression. The entire Kloots family was close and holidays and picnics were great. Joan's son Tom was about my age and we got together often at Joan's and she would feed us well.
