Kay A. Swartwood
Birthplace: Toledo, Ohio Resided In: Sheffield Lake, Ohio Cemetery: Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery

Kay Swartwood, 76, of Sheffield Lake, passed away on March 1, 2023 surrounded by family.

Kay was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio. After graduating high school, she wished to serve her country, and enlisted in the U.S. Women's Army Corps (WAC). While stationed at Fort. Myer, Virginia, she met and married her husband, Tim. Kay was honorably discharged from the Army after 3 years of service and turned her attention to family. She was a housewife and mother for 16 years before adding the title of business owner with the opening of Wood’s Video. In her spare time, she loved movies, fishing, bowling, softball and spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed single handedly beating the lot of them at Trivial Pursuit. She also loved spending time at the American Legion Post 211 in Avon Lake that she was a member of for 33 years.  Her only regret, not seeing the Cleveland Indians win a world series.

Kay is survived by her husband of 55 years Tim, her daughter Pam Sikora (Jeff), and sons Tim Jr. and Daniel USCG, her eight grandchildren, and her brother Gary. She is preceded in death by her mother Mildred, father Paul and oldest brother Kenny.

She will be interred with military honors at  Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in a private ceremony.

Kay, when we moved in you welcomed us to the neighborhood with open arms. You made two, out of place kids, feel at home. I’ll never forget your kindness. Tim, Pam, Timmy, and Danny, I am so sorry for your loss.
