Roger Schulte, age 92 of Fairview Park, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2023.
He was born to the late Edward and Ruth Schulte on June 12, 1930. Roger served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, while working at the Pentagon. After an honorable discharge, he attended Baldwin Wallace University. Following graduation, Roger embarked on a 35-year career at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration where he worked as an electrical engineer - in the early days, designing telemetry systems for pre-launch weather balloons, most notably used for NASA's Viking mission - the first successful Mars lander in history. Near the end of his career, as Chief of Communications, he led numerous innovative telecommunication initiatives for the organization. He was a mentor to countless colleagues and students.
He was a man of strong religious faith, an avid boater, a model rocket and airplane hobbyist, and a friend to animals and the outdoors. Roger was also an avid gardener, and took great pleasure in showing his award winning Dahlias at the county fair.
In 2018, he married his loving companion, Susan Jeffers. He is survived by Susan, his three children: Elaine Schulte (Kim Lawrence), Robert Schulte (Mary Zodnik), and Cathy Catalano (Don); four grandchildren, and a niece.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation Friday January 6th from 5 – 8 pm at Jenkins Funeral Chapel 2914 Dover Center Rd. Westlake 44145. The funeral will take place on Saturday at 10 am at Sunset Memorial Park  (IN WESTWOOD ABBEY) 6265 Columbia Rd, North Olmsted, OH 44070
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Hospice of the Western Reserve
