Jean K. Kogge
Birthplace: Monrovia, CA Resided In: Bay Village and Chagrin Falls, OH

JEAN KURZ KOGGE, age 98. Loving mother of John Kogge (Heather) of
Bloomington, IN, David Kogge (Janet, deceased) of Las Vegas, NV, and Elizabeth
Tippit (Carl) of Chagrin Falls, OH. Dear grandmother of Christian (Lisa), Sean, Eric
(Emma), Jesse and Gabriel. Step-grandmother to Francesca, Samuel, Nicholas
(Cooky), and Malory (Nick). Bonus Mom to Patti Safford (Bill). Preceded in death
by her late-in-life companion, John Eberly, and beloved sisters Sally and Marty.
Jean was an avid reader, bridge player, knitter, piano player, gifted artist, world
traveler, relentless volunteer, and devoted friend to many. The majority of her
long life was spent with friends and family in Bay Village, OH, the place she called
home. Jean was a 1948 graduate of the University of Illinois, where she proudly
wore the lyre of Alpha Chi Omega. She started with a journalism career in
Chicago at Esquire Magazine as a copywriter and later attended Baldwin Wallace
College to become a certified teacher, which led to her many years of teaching art
and journalism at Brookside High School in Sheffield Lake, OH. Jean will be
remembered for her sunny smile, engaging sense of humor, and wondrous ability
to forgive. A private family gathering will be held in her honor. A special thank
you to Hamlet at Chagrin Falls and Hospice of the Western Reserve for their time
and attention to Jean’s care.

My loving MOM!!! We love You! She and my son, literally being the only two Kogges ever born in California(!) But pretty northern Ohio was her domain. JEAN did have an infectious smile, true, and she was a mellow and sharing person. At just about 99 years here before her ascension, I think of my past research that has JEAN as probably the top matriarch of her extensive family line that settled in the Green Bay area from Germany around 1850. Thank you for ALL Of you who were friends and family!!!!!!!!!!!
