Caroline K. Welsh
Caroline K. Welsh
December 01, 1933 ‐ September 15, 2021
Caroline (nee Kracklauer) Welsh, age 87, peacefully passed away with her children at her side on September 15 at Clarebridge at Westlake Village in Westlake, Ohio. Caroline was married 62 years to William (Bill) Welsh. Their love-filled marriage took them to live in many states that allowed her to be a loving homemaker and backyard pool monitor in several different regions of the country. There were annual summer driving trips to Wisconsin and Iowa to visit grandparents, aunts/uncles, and cousins. In addition, the family enjoyed annual summer trips to different beaches on the East Coast including Cape Cod, the Jersey Shore and Jekyll Island which eventually evolved into annual trips to Myrtle Beach with grandchildren that instilled a love of the beach in them.
Caroline has joined, in a heavenly way, her parents, Otto and Anna, her siblings Robert (aka Oogie) (Dorothy), Anita (Robert) and Kathleen (aka Dickie) (Bunna).
Caroline will be mourned by her husband, Bill, her children Edward (Thoy), Maureen Sords (Jeffrey), Thomas, and James (Eileen) and her grandchildren: Pamela Welsh, William Reiser, Bryan Welsh, Margaret Reiser, Shannon Welsh and Tyler Welsh. Also missing Caroline will be her sisters-in-law, Louise Shrank (Jeffrey) and Joan Welsh (Richard-deceased) along with numerous nieces and nephews in Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Florida, California and Massachusetts.
A Wisconsin girl at heart, Caroline had a love of the Packers and Badgers, the Mississippi River and all things La Crosse. Caroline loved animals especially owls, puppies, cardinals, deer and ducks. Her children and grandchildren loved to take her on nature walks by the pond next to her residence to feed the ducks, to look for different birds and view the different flowering plants and trees. Caroline embraced her German heritage with a love of sauerkraut, bratwursts and cold beer (Das ist Gut!).
We will miss Caroline’s sparkling smile that brightened any room and her China-blue eyes (with their twinkle) along with her tradition of baking Christmas cookies and fruitcakes with her children and grandchildren.
Caroline had a subtle sense of humor that entertained family and friends allowing for a good chuckle or hearty laugh at gatherings. Her pleasant and cheerful personality made her a joy to be around and she was a person who enjoyed helping others. Being kind to others was natural for Caroline and you always felt her kindheartedness whenever you were in her presence.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ladislas Catholic church, 2345 Bassett Road, Westlake, Ohio on Tuesday, September 21 at 10:00 am. The family will greet extended family and friends in the front atrium starting at 9:30 am.
Caroline will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery on Detroit Road in Avon, Ohio.
Donations can be made in memory of Caroline to the Good Shepherd Program at St. Ladislas parish.
