Jean Keiser, a former long-time resident of Bay Village, passed away on May 30, 2010 at the age of 89 at Parkvue Healthcare Center, Sandusky, Ohio. Born Jean Claire Van Almen on April 13, 1921, in Massillon, Mrs. Keiser lived most of her adult life in Bay Village, where she was highly involved in youth and other community-related activities. She resided in Sandusky and Huron for the past 12 years. After graduating from Lakewood High School in 1939, Jean was awarded a scholarship to attend the Conservatory of Music at Baldwin-Wallace College. After attending Baldwin-Wallace, she worked as a customer service representative for Ohio Bell Telephone. During World War II, Jean corresponded with her future husband, Dr. Lee Keiser, who was stationed in the South Pacific. After Lee’s return home in 1944, they were married at Lakewood Presbyterian Church. Jean and Lee Keiser moved their young family from Lakewood to Bay Village in 1948, where they became involved in numerous community activities. Jean sang as an alto in the Bay Presbyterian Church choir for many years, and was often the featured soloist at Sunday services. While raising three children, she was active in organizations such as the PTA, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, the Bay Rockets Association, Alpha Gamma Delta sorority alumnae, Lakewood High School alumnae, and Baldwin-Wallace College alumnae. Mrs. Keiser is survived by her children Allyn Keiser (Anntoinette) of New Canaan, Connecticut, Susan Todd (Paul) of Sandusky, and John Keiser (Virginia) of Hinsdale, Illinois; grandchildren Benjamin, Jennifer, Jesse, Patrick and Timothy; great granddaughter Claire; and step-great grandchildren Caitryna and Steven.
